WELCOME TO THE BAZAAR
Please let us welcome you and guide you through the unique experience of a world in which the laws of sensuality rule. Allow yourself to indulge in the sights, sounds and tastes: the decantation of the tenderness of body, the enchanting and flirtatious looks with the viewers, the passionate motions of the hips, the playful approaches and withdrawals… the music, brimming with the primary emotions of delight, sadness, and love, all interwoven into unique combinations of rhythm and melody… ultimately, we will also tend to your palates.

ABOUT US
Melita Drev Bakirkaya is the initiator and director of the Bazaar. Oriental culture, she says, is ‘food for the soul’; and her greatest desire is to bring the charms of the oriental world closer to others. Not surprisingly, together with her husband Kazim Bakirkaya, they run the Turkish restaurant Yildiz-Han. In Turkey she found warmth, repose, kindness and hospitality – in other words, often the essential ingredients lacking today in everyday life.
In retrospect, the origins of the Bazaar are as follows: in 2004, Nursel organized the Cingene at Križanke (www.nursel.com). The following year, the dance guests wanted to return to Slovenia, however Nursel had cancelled. Thus it was through Suzana Gale Robežnik, the president of the Tuana Association, that a short performance was exhibited at Kud France Prešeren. Melity Drev Bakirkaya was enthralled with the idea of a festival for oriental dance and so in the following year she, together with her dance friends and through the Tuana Association, organized the manifestation of festival.
The scenario was planned the first year by Mateja Pevec and Eva Rotar-Lina; and in the second year it was Mateja Pevec, Barbara Drnač and Melilta Drev Bakirkaya. Alja Shaar tends to the scenography, Maja Šijakov-Hasna is the creator of graphic images for publicity. Petra Pongrac-Pinar conscientiously tends to the entire administrative works, Maja Domazet translates, and sister Bojana helps with the search for sponsors. Špela Stramšek -Shayala writes the texts for theatre leaflets and for our web site.
